After the Denver Nuggets ousted the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Playoffs opening round, the spotlight swiftly turned to LeBron James, the league’s leading scorer and icon. Would he leave the Lakers this time around?

Is Lebron James Leaving the Lakers at Last?

Lebron James

At 39, LeBron James will have to make a crucial decision about his career in basketball. No doubt, even if he retires right now, he has already proved all he needed to prove. James holds a player option valued at $51.4 million for the upcoming summer, which he can either accept or decline; if he declines, he’d become a free agent.

Having played a whopping 21 seasons in the NBA, retirement looms as a possibility, especially as he approaches his 40th birthday in December. However, James hasn’t made any clear notice on whether he chooses to retire or continue in the sports. He’d made some posts on X (formerly Twitter), hinting that he is yet to make a decision.

Meanwhile, Lebron’s stats for the Lakers in the last season were an impressive one – as always. He averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 71 appearances. Outside the NBA, James would represent Team USA at the summer Olympic Games in Paris, alongside luminaries like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis.
